Types of Chlorine Gas Flow Meters

1. Thermal Mass Flow Meters:

   • Measure mass flow based on heat transfer.

   • Suitable for low flow rates.

   • No moving parts; good for corrosive gases.

2. Rotameters (Variable Area Meters):

   • Simple and cost-effective.

   • Often used in manual flow control setups.

   • Limited accuracy compared to other types.

3. Coriolis Mass Flow Meters:

   • High accuracy and reliability.

   • Measures mass flow directly.

   • Higher cost; typically used in critical applications.

4. Differential Pressure Flow Meters:

   • Use pressure drop across an orifice or flow restriction.

   • Can be used with specialized materials to handle chlorine.

Materials and Construction

Due to the corrosive nature of chlorine, materials like Monel, Hastelloy, PTFE (Teflon), and other corrosion-resistant alloys are commonly used in the construction of these meters. The internal components must be selected to prevent degradation and ensure long-term operation.
